Joel Embiid has agreed to a multi-year, supermax contract extension with the Philadelphia 76ers.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the deal between Embiid and the Sixers is for four years, worth a total of $196M.

The versatile big man had a stellar year last season, helping the Sixers finish with the best record in the Eastern Conference. He was also a 2021 NBA MVP runner-up.

Embiid is now getting ready for the start of the training camp in late September. He did not have surgery to repair the meniscus tear he suffered during the 76ers’ first-round series vs the Wizards, Ramona Shelburne of ESPN reports.
