Denver Nuggets assistant Wes Unseld Jr. and Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham are the frontrunners for the Washington Wizards’ coaching vacancy, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Bucks assistant Charles Lee has also emerged as a finalist for the job.

Unseld Jr. was recently a finalist for the Orlando Magic coaching job until they hired Jamahl Mosley as their next head coach.

Unseld Jr. was scheduled to have a follow-up interview with the Wizards on July 9.

His father is one of the franchise’s best players, leading Washington to its only championship in 1978, and he is also the only player in franchise history to win the NBA MVP award.

Unseld Sr. also went on to be the head coach and an executive with the franchise.

It would be a great story if Unseld Jr. got hired and returned to the franchise where his father spent his whole playing and coaching career.

He started his coaching career with the Wizards from 2005-2011 as an assistant and scout before going on to be an assistant with the Golden State Warriors (2011-12), Magic (2012-2015) and Nuggets (2015-present).

The Wizards and New Orleans Pelicans are the only teams without a head coach.
