Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard underwent successful surgery to repair a partially torn right ACL, the team announced.
There is no timetable for his return.
Leonard suffered the injury in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Utah Jazz.
The Clippers originally labeled his injury as a right knee sprain, but they feared he had an ACL injury.
Leonard then missed the final eight playoff games.
In 11 postseason games, the 30-year-old averaged 30.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game.
For comparison, Washington Wizards center Thomas Bryant and Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie both missed 60-plus games this season due to Grade 2 (partial tear) ACL injuries they suffered early in the season.
Leonard’s recovery will likely carryover into next year.
He has a player option for the 2021-22 season, where if he declines, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
