Rapper Ice Cube thinks the Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard should be looking to change teams in order to win a championship. According to him, he should join the Los Angeles Lakers in order to achieve that.
“If he wants a championship, he should come join the Lakers. If he wants to just score a lot of points and be the man, stay in Portland,” Ice Cube said when asked by Stephen A. Smith what advice he would give to Lillard. “But come win a championship. You deserve it. He’s given a lot of to that city. So give some of that love to the LA Lakers, man.”
There have been reports suggesting that Lillard may force his way out of the team if it does not improve its roster to make it a title contender. This sparked speculations on what teams could be potential destinations for the six-time NBA All-Star. Recently, he was seen with LeBron James in Las Vegas which further fuelled speculations about his future.
This past seaso, the 30-year-old point guard averaged 28.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game for the Blazers. Lillard’s four-year contract extension starts next year. He is set to earn close to $40 million the coming season.
