Zion Williamson has just completed his second season in the NBA. His team, the New Orleans Pelicans, missed the playoffs both times. There appears to be a growing uneasiness from his family about his future with the team.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, some of Zion’s family members would like him to leave New Orleans and continue his career elsewhere. The main issue that they have with the team is lack of winning.

“There are some family members around Zion Williamson, I’m told, that would prefer him out of New Orleans,” Charania said. “But again, it isn’t that easy. He has two years left on his rookie deal and he’s going to be up for rookie extension. There’s been no rookie player that’s turned down a max contract extension.”

This past season, the number one pick of the 2019 NBA Draft averaged 27 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game for the Pelicans.
