Serbia’s women basketball team beat Spain in overtime (71-64) in the quarter-finals and will face Belgium in the semi-finals of the Women’s EuroBasket 2021 in Valencia.

The game for the Finals against Belgium, which beat Russia with 85-83, will be held on Saturday. In the second semi-final game, France will face Belarus.

These four semi-finalists also booked their tickets for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournaments, while Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, Spain, and Sweden will fight on Saturday for the two remaining spots.

The game between the co-host (Spain) and Serbia was really intense and the girls needed to show a lot of patience in order to get the job done. The Serbian girls were more focused during the overtime and it was a key factor for beating the defending champs.

Sonja Vasić and Nevena Jovanović shined in crunch time and helped Serbia reach the semi-finals. Vasić ended the game with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Jovanović had a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Besides these two, Yvonne Anderson also scored more than 10 points. She scored 17 in the game against Spain.

On the other side, Cristina Ouvina was the best scorer with 14, Astou Ndour added 12 and Maite Cazorla 11.
