Los Angeles Lakers are back to the drawing board after a disappointing first round exit in the 2021 NBA postseason. Lakers’ GM Rob Pelinka shared his thoughts on the franchise’s plan for the offseason.

The lack of health was the biggest issue for the team, especially in the second part of the season, however that was not the only reason that the Lakers couldn’t make a potential championship run in the playoffs.

“You can never have enough shooting, so it’s something that’s always at the top of our mind when we’re building and constructing a roster.

I think it’s important too, part of successful shooting is having special players that create the shooting space and for us, that comes primarily from LeBron and Anthony.”

The Lakers are expected to have an interesting offseason as nine players will be free agents this summer. So, the Lakers may be in need of more shooting, especially if players like Wes Matthews, Marc Gasol and Dennis Schroeder do not come back to LA.

Only time will tell if the Lakers front office believes in the team’s current core of secondary stars and role players. If Rob Pelinka believes he could upgrade the core and bring more shooting to the roster, then expect the Lakers to be active in the offseason.
