New York Knicks star Julius Randle has won the Most Improved Player of the Year award, Shams Charania of the Athletic reports.

The first-time All-Star was the main reason the Knicks overachieved during the regular season and claimed the fourth seed of the Eastern Conference.

Randle finished the regular season with career-highs basically across the board as he posted averages of 24.1 points with 10.2 rebounds and six assists. He was named to the All-Star team for the first time of his career during the season.

The Knicks will look to bounce back from a Game 1 loss to the Atlanta Hawks after going down 1-0 in the playoff series of the Eastern Conference opening round.
