The Los Angeles Lakers dropped to the play-in tournament zone after losing to the Portland Trail Blazers (101-106). Anthony Davis led the reigning NBA champions with 36 points and 12 points but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.

After the game, the 28-year-old forward admitted that it was a tough loss to take as the Lakers had the chance to win it. “Just tough, man. It’s a tough loss for us,” Davis said postgame. “We competed, we fought. Some plays down the stretch and throughout the game they kind of hurt us.”

The Lakers are now sitting at the seventh place in the Western Conference with 37 wins and 30 losses. Should the play-in tournament start now, they would face the tenth-placed San Antonio Spurs.
