Frank Vogel opened up about why Marc Gasol didn’t play against the Utah Jazz on Monday night.

Vogel, the head coach of the Lakers, said he wanted to use Gasol, but the Spanish center hadn’t fully recovered from his hamstring injury.

“Frank Vogel says he thinks Marc Gasol can help in a matchup like this one (particularly as a spacing, passing center to pull Gobert out of the paint), but he’s still nursing the hamstring and was only going to be used in case of “emergency,” Mike Trudell of Spectrum Sportsnet reports.

Gasol was the only player that had no playing time in the loss to the Jazz (111-97).
