The Los Angeles Lakers are now on a three-game losing streak after losing to the New Orleans Pelicans at Smoothie King Center. For the third time in a row, the reigning NBA champions were without LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel pointed at one aspect of the game that was the main issue for his team.
“With Anthony being out I thought we had some real growth, some real positives about what we did offensively,” he said. “We had a stretch in that second quarter which really hurt us in this game. But with all the emphasis on the offensive end and seeing that type of growth, we didn’t play well enough defensively. Period. Particularly in the third quarter.
“So we’re going to miss guys like that Bron and AD on both sides of the ball. Getting us organized offensively is really probably my top priority right now. I know we tighten the screws defensively but we got to be better on that end.”
The Lakers conceded 128 points against the Pelicans while scoring 111. 43 of those 128 points came in the third quarter. LA’s offense was balanced with 6 players finishing with double-digit points.
