James Wiseman has a huge upside as a big man in the NBA and Mychal Thompson, father of Warriors’ superstar Klay Thompson, sees something of a young David Robinson in him.
The radio color commentator for the Los Angeles Lakers offered high praise for the rookie center in an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Kerith Burke.

“[Wiseman] is going to be fine,” Thompson said. “He’s only 19. You can see he has a high basketball IQ. He’s willing to be coached…”
“I played against David Robinson, and he reminds me of a young David Robinson,” Thompson claimed on Wiseman. “Athletic, fast, good hands, good touch. He’s going to be a star in this league for many, many years.”
The rookie big is mainly coming off the bench this season averaging 12.3 and 5.8 rebounds over 20.4 minutes in his first 25 games of his NBA career.
