Serbia beat Georgia (92-66) in the fifth round of the Qualifiers and booked its ticket for the EuroBasket 2022.

Georgia will also play at the European championship as one of the four hosts. Finland will also participate as the third-placed team in Group E.

With this win against Georgia, Serbia got even for the loss in the first round in Belgrade. That game in the capital of Serbia wasn’t played in the “bubble”, but in front of the Serbian fans.

In the last round, the Serbian squad will face Switzerland on Sunday. Maybe Vasilije Micić and Marko Gudurić will join the squad against Switzerland.

Both teams didn’t start the game very well, but Serbia played better defense and allowed Georgia only one basket in the first five minutes.

In one moment, Dejan Milojević’s squad was leading 11-2 and all because Georgia had problems with turnovers after three minutes of the match.

In the second quarter, Georgia got back in the match and was leading when Dejan Milojević asked for a time-out. He asked his team to play faster and they did it. After the first half, Serbia was leading by 6 (37-31).

In the second half, Serbia started shooting well. Danilo Anđušić was especially in the mood and was successful in 5 out of 6 attempts for three. In the third quarter, the Serbian squad raised its advantage and in the fourth protected and calmly finished the match.

The debutant Filip Petrušev led the way in the win with a game-high of 27 points, while Danilo Anđušić scored 22. Nikola Rebić added 11 points.

Giorgi Shermadini was the best scorer for Georgia. He ended the match with 20 points. Duda Sanadze added 15, while both Conner Michael Frankamp and Beka Burjanadze scored 10 points.
