Luka Doncic took the NBA by storm. After dominating Europe in his late teens, the Slovenian starlet entered the NBA with many experts doubting if he can become a star in the league.

His doubters turned out to be wrong. Right from his rookie year, Doncic became one of the hottest names in the league and continues to establish himself as an elite NBA player.

Rick Carlisle, the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, has the chance to see Luka from up close. What he sees reminds him of some of the NBA greats.

Carlisle sees similarities between Doncic and such players as LeBron James, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson due his ability to do everything on the court.

“I played with Bird. For three years straight, I watched, and that was the feeling when you watched him every single night. Magic Johnson was the same kind of player. Really, LeBron James is the same kind of player, too. These guys can do anything on a basketball court,” Carlisle said, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

In his third NBA season, Doncic is an MVP-level player averaging nearly a triple-double of 27.4 points, 9.4 rebounds and 9.7 assists per game.
