Gordon Hayward revealed the teams that were interested in acquiring him during the offseason with the veteran forward admitting he wanted to return to Boston before signing a four-year, $120M contract with Charlotte.

Hayward told The Athletic’s Sam Amick five teams were in play to secure his services back in October. Those five teams were the Knicks, the Hornets, the Hawks and of course the Celtics.

“New York was in the mix—the Knicks. Indiana was another team that was really interested, and we had mutual interest for a while. Boston was—like, let’s not forget about Boston. I really wanted to go back to Boston too. There were just a lot of options, and a lot of potential teams that I could go to, but I’d say those were the main ones. Atlanta, New York, Boston, Indiana, and then Charlotte obviously.”

The veteran swingman has a strong start with the Hornets being their leading scorer with 22.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

The Hornets are on a 6-8 start fighting for a place in the Top-8 teams of the Eastern Conference. Hayward plays the role of the leader in a young squad headlined by LaMelo Ball.
