LeBron James was expected to have a successful NBA career even before he entered the league. Sportwear companies wanted to make deals with LeBron while he was still in highschool. One of them was Reebok.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar revealed that Reebok offered him $10 million upfront under condition that he would not talk to Nike or adidas. At first LeBron, who was broke back then, was at a loss of words but then he realized that offer companies could potentially offer him even more.

“For some odd reason I started thinking if this guy — he’s a great guy, still love him to this day, he’s an unbelievable guy — but if he’s willing to give me a ten million check right now, what is to say that Nike or adidas is not willing to give me twenty or thirty upfront,” LeBron said.
