Tyronn Lue opened up about what advice Doc Rivers gave him before accepting the offer of the Los Angeles Clippers.
Lue, who worked in Rivers’ coaching staff for two years, replaced the veteran coach on the team’s bench.
“I couldn’t have taken this job without Doc’s blessings. When the Clippers reached out, I made sure I talked with Doc to see how he felt about it.
He said, ‘Ty, you absolutely have to do it. If you don’t take it, somebody else will. If I wanted anyone to have that job, it would be you, Ty.’ So once he gave me that blessing, it kind of went on from there,” Lue told Rachel Nichols of ESPN.
Lue agreed to a five-year deal with the Clippers and became the new head coach.
