Rajon Rondo is expected to become a free agent this offseason, per Chris Sheridan of BasketballNews.com.

The veteran guard is inclined to opt out of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and become an unrestricted free agent.

“Rajon Rondo will opt out of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers to become an unrestricted free agent, BasketballNews.com learned on Thursday.

“He’s definitely opting out,” a league source said,” Sheridan reports.

Rondo’s player option is worth $2.96 million for the 2020/21 season.

The 34-year-old guard won the 2020 NBA title with the Lakers.
