Jimmy Butler said he showed no interest to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers last summer.
Per reports, the Lakers initially discussed signing Butler after the Anthony Davis trade, but did not even have a meeting with him.
Butler met with the Miami Heat and decided to join the team once free agency opened.
“Jimmy Butler says he didn’t consider going to the Lakers last summer. Said when he met with Erik Spoesltra and Pat Riley, it was everything he knew he’d want,” Tim Bontemps of ESPN reports.
Butler and the Heat will face the Lakers in the 2020 NBA Finals.
