Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban reunited Delonte West with his mother in Dallas and West has now checked into a rehab facility in Florida.
Cuban originally reached out to West’s mother, Delphina Addison, asking how he can help.
Her answer was simple: Find Delonte, per Shams Charania, and Cuban did just that.
Cuban picked up West at a gas station in Dallas on Sept. 28 and waited with him at a hotel until his mother arrived.
The Mavericks’ owner has also offered to pay for West’s treatment.
Several people in and around the NBA have previously attempted to help West, who has dealt with bipolar disorder, mental illness and financial struggles in recent years.
Until this point, West had not been open and receptive to the efforts of those people, so it’s great to see him finally taking the first step in the right direction of getting his life back on track.
