The Boston Celtics needed Gordon Hayward badly in the ECF series versus the Miami Heat. Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reported Gordon Hayward rushed back his recovery process in order to play in the series against Miami.

Hayward sustained nerve and retinaculum damage in his sprained ankle and could barely jump, per Washburn. As a result, he played with one leg in the series, as he barely could jump.

The veteran swingman managed 10.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 30.7 minutes a game against the Heat. Boston eventually fell in six games.
