Danny Green came to the Los Angeles Lakers roster last summer to provide shooting and veteran guidance. Green talked ahead of the WCF semifinals, which start on Friday for the Lakers, about Frank Vogel and his way of handling his players.

Green discused a theory on the latest episode of his podcast, “Inside the Green Room”, claiming that he is playing better, when he is pissed and sometimes Vogel is ‘too nice’.

(According to SB Nation):

“I like Frank, but Frank he is just too nice sometimes. I’m not saying I wish he would be more hard on me, but there’s times where he could be honest a little bit more, or give me more of a task, more of a challenge so that I could step up to the challenge.

But I think he tries to – especially in regular season games – tries to save me some, tries to see how my body is. But I’m like ‘nah, I’m gonna be okay man, don’t worry about it, I can handle this, I can get this done. I’ll step up to the challenge. Just challenge me sometimes. It’s okay to do that.”

Green has appeared in three NBA Finals and won two of them with the San Antonio Spurs and the Toronto Raptors. He had shined in the past during the postseason, but he didn’t shoot the ball well during the first-round series vs. Portland.
