After the return-to-play date was set at July 31, the NBA is now hoping to resume play in Orlando one day earlier on July 30.
Moving the start date up one day won’t have a major effect, as teams are expected to have to play at least one set of back-to-back games during the eight “seeding games.”
Those who make the playoffs will also possibly have to play a back-to-back set in the first round.
However, each extra day that the NBA has could prove to come in handy.
It’s also worth noting that July 30 is a Thursday, a night that usually features a TNT doubleheader during the regular season.
This makes some more sense in terms of attracting TV viewers.
The NBA reportedly has a general idea of everyone’s opponents and is working on strength of schedule, according to Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.
