The Boston Celtics won Game 7 117-114 at home against the Detroit Pistons, thanks to an excellent performance by Larry Bird.

The game featured nine future Hall of Famers. For the Celtics, Bird, Dennis Johnson, Robert Parish, Kevin McHale and Bill Walton. For the Pistons, Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Adrian Dantley and Dennis Rodman.

It was a back and forth game. The Celtics had the lead late in the fourth quarter and every time the Pistons made a push the Celtics responded and were able to hold them off.

Bird finished with 37 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in Game 7. He played all 48 minutes. Johnson, Parish and McHale all recorded double doubles.

Dumars finished with 35 for the Pistons in the loss and Thomas had 25.

In Game 4, a fight broke out between Bird and and Laimbeer after a hard foul by Laimbeer, late in the game. Laimbeer grabbed Bird by the neck and flung him to the ground. Bird punched Laimbeer and then threw the basketball at the Pistons. This led to another scuffle between Bird and Rodman.

Bird got his revenge on Laimbeer and the Pistons with his dominant Game 7 performance.
