LaMelo Ball, one of the top prospects of the 2020 NBA Draft, has very high goals for his NBA career. The 18-year-old point guard wants to be the best player ever fifteen years from now. To achieve that status, he would have to outperform some of the basketball greats, such Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant or LeBron James, just to name a few.
“15 years from now I want to be the best to ever play the game,” LaMelo said via Christopher Riley of GQ. The youngest son of LaVar Ball had a unique path to the NBA as he started his professional career at the age of 16 by signing a contract with Vytautas Prienai in Lithuania.
After four months in Europe, LaMelo and his brother LiAngelo returned to the United States. There, he signed with Los Angeles Ballers of the Junior Basketball Association, a new college-alternative league created by his father.
In 2019, he signed a two-year contract with the Illawarra Hawks of the Australian NBL. Through 12 NBL games, Ball averaged 17 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game. After an unfinished first season in Australia, LaMelo decided to enter the 2020 NBA Draft.
