One of the things that the players need to be comfortable with when NBA season resumes if the possibility that someone will get infected with coronavirus and for the season to continue. Unless this is accepted prior to the season resumption, there is no point in re-starting the season as one positive test would mean another suspension or more likely cancellation.

Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry was asked by ABC’s TJ Holmes Thursday on Good Morning America the same exact question – would he be okay playing against or with a guy who tests positive for the novel coronavirus. The three-time NBA champion said all of the players should be comfortable with the risk. Otherwise, there will be no games this season.

Per ABC7 News:

“Oh that’d be tough. I mean, that’s one of the things that you’re having to address because that is a real scenario. If you try to play and there is no vaccine, there’s no way to really guarantee nobody’s going to get it. I think if you are at a place where everybody says yeah we’re ready to play and then they know what they’re committing to. And if not, it doesn’t make sense, then you won’t see a ball bounce.”

For the Warriors, who are the worst team in the league this season, there is little motivation to play any games other than financial. After 65 regular season games, the Dubs are at the bottom of the Western Conference with 15 wins and 50 losses.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is targeting a 70-game regular season, which means Golden State would return to play just 5 games with a risk of getting infected with the virus.
