One of the best shooters in basketball is set to keep filling the baskets for Real Madrid after the club announced Monday a new agreement with shooting guard Jaycee Carroll to extend his contract until the end of the 2016-17 season.
Carroll (1.88 meters, 30 years old) was the Euroleague’s top scorer off the bench last season, averaging 11.9 points on 42.5% three-point shooting and 88.4% free throw accuracy in 29 games.
In his two seasons in Madrid, Carroll helped Los Blancos lift the Copa del Rey trophy in 2012 and win the Spanish League title last season, in which his club also made it to the Euroleague title game for the first time since 1995.
Before joining Madrid, Carroll averaged 16.9 points over two Eurocup seasons between 2009 and 2011 for Gran Canaria of Spain, for whom he was chosen to the 2010-11 All-Spanish League first team and led the nationl competition in scoring twice.
He also played for BancaTercas Teramo in Italy. Last season, Carroll ranked fifth in three-pointers made per 40 minutes (3.47). He was third in three-point accuracy (37-of-72, 51.4%) in the 2011-12 Euroleague.
