Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv added another weapon to its backcourt with the signing of Tyrese Rice. The high-scoring guard will make his Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut with Maccabi.

Rice (1.85 meters, 26 years old) arrives from German side Bayern Munich, where he was third in the league in scoring with 15.8 points and second with 4.4 assists over 40 games last season. He also played in Germany in 2010-11, when he was the league’s runner-up in scoring with 17.2 points per game.

In between he spent one season with Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania, which Rice helped reach the Eurocup semifinal. He made his professional debut with Panionios of Greece in 2009.

Rice played college basketball at Boston College, where he finished with 2,099 career points, which placed him fifth on the Eagles’ career scoring charts, and 247 three-pointers made, which was third-most in school history. He was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference First Team selection once and a Second Team choice twice during his four years at BC.

“We are very pleased that Tyrese has joined our team,” Maccabi head coach David Blatt said. “He is a creative guard with great driving skills. He likes fast, attractive basketball and brings a lot of passion to the court.”
