Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z confirmed sports agent

Rapper Jay-Z and Roc Nation Sports have been granted certification by the NBPA (National Basketball Players Association) to become a sports agency service.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter started Roc Nation Sports on April 1 with the intent to create a full-service sports agency to represent players during the contract process, and while anyone can represent athletes in terms of marketing, the agents themselves need to be certified by the players unions of those particular sports leagues.

Roc Nation President Juan Perez has also been certified by the NBPA.

Carter has in turn relinquished his ownership shares with the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets due to an NBA ruling that sports agents can’t also be club owners.
