While the future of this summer’s Tokyo Olympic Games hangs in balance, the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) is convinced the games will be moved to another year.

“It’s clear the Games can’t be held in July. Our athletes have been magnificent in their positive attitude to training and preparing, but the stress and uncertainty has been extremely challenging for them,” Australian Team Chef de Mission for Tokyo Ian Chesterman said.

In an official communication, AOC revealed it has told its athletes to prepare for the Tokyo Olympic Games in summer of 2021.

Both Australia’s men and women national teams have qualified for the Olympic Basketball Tournament.

Recently, the Canadian Olympic Committee decided to pull its athletes from the games this summer.
