Free agent Isaiah Thomas revealed what undersized players need the most in order to be successful. The 5′ 9″ point guard told a Twitter follower that the most important thing is being ‘special’ at all times.
The two-time All-Star is a prime example that size is not all that matters. In the 2016-2017 season, he was tearing opposing defences apart, averaging 28.9 points and 5.9 assists per game.
“I think as a small guard you have to be SPECIAL at all times. Whatever that means then that’s what you have to be. They don’t give little guards anything so when you get your chance be SPECIAL!!!”
