Los Angeles Lakers’ big man Anthony Davis stepped into the hot seat with Jacques Slade, a host of Restock, to talk about his life on and off the court. In an interview, given in the summer of 2019, AD shared a memory about a moment when he almost quit playing basketball.

“I was about to quit basketball. I have been a best player on my team and I went to this programme, where it was like 18 guys on the gym. And they were all trying out for the team, but everybody was better than me,” Davis said.

“After that first practice I was like ‘I can’t do this’. I’m in the car driving home I lie down, I wanna play no more, because that was the first time someone was better than me,” AD continued.

“I was scared. I was like ‘I need to work harder’. After that first tournament I saw this scholarship offers coming in and all the letters, I’m like ‘man, I can be good’,” the Lakers’ star added.
