After the great success in Milan the last month, the International Youth Level Coaches Clinic 2013 come back with the edition for the South and Centre of Italy.

On April 25-26 at PalaFelici in Rome the guest star will be the Italian National Team head coach Simone Pianigiani. The Clinic is organized by the Italian Basketball Federation and the National Coaches Committee with Giorgio Gandolfi – Sport Marketing, Events and Communication and the partnership of Stella Azzurra – Basketball Academy.

Beside Pianigiani, that as youth level coach won 5 Italian championships before starting the dynasty with the first team of Montepaschi Siena, the other lecturers are Omer Ugurata, head coach of Turkey National Team that won U16 European Championship in 2012, Marco Calvani, head coach of Italian A1’s surprise Acea Roma, and, coming back from Milan’s clinic, Marco Sanguettoli, head coach of U15 and U17 teams of Virtus Unipol Bologna, Andrea Menozzi, director of Youth Level Teams and coach of U19 and U17 teams of Trenkwalder Reggio Emilia.

From the Federation area there will be Andrea Capobianco, Italian National Team assistant coach and Italian National Youth Teams and Coaches Committee Technical Director, and Domenico Papa, U18 Italian National Team and Juve Caserta Strenght & Conditioning Coach.

Simone Pianigiani, born in Siena in 1969, is the Italian National Team Head Coach since 2009. He started to coach at 19 like minibasket coach, becoming year after year the icon of Montepaschi Siena’s dinasty. For Mens Sana he was assistant coach for 11 years, winning 1 Italian championship, a Saporta Cup and a Italian Cup; meanwhile, he coached in youth level teams and won 5 Italian championships. Then, as head coach of the first team of Mens Sana, he won 6 Italian championships in a row, 5 Italian Supercups and 4 Italian Cups, reaching two times the Euroleague’s Final Four. In this season he started as Fenerbahce Ulker head coach, winning the Turkey’s Cup before resign his job few weeks ago due to personal issues.

Marco Calvani is born in Rome in 1963 and he’s the head coach of his own city team, Acea Virtus Roma. After his first experience with women basketball at Cus and with Stella Azzurra, he began in male basketball with Termoli, Palmi and Benevento, before to start his high level career with Virtus. From 1990 to 2001 he worked in Rome as assistant coach, collecting 21 games as interim coach, then he coached in Montecatini and Pesaro, winning two times the third Italian championship, Scafati, Trapani and Casalpusterlengo. The last year he came back in Roma as assistant coach of Lino Lardo, replacing him at half season.

Andrea Capobianco is one of Simone Pianigiani’s assistant coaches on Italian National Team bench and he’s also Italian National Youth Teams & Coaches Committee Technical Director. He began his career as an assistant coach in Battipaglia, moving to Salerno and then to Avellino, where he was assistant and then head coach in A1 team in 2006, before to win A2’s Italian Cup with Jesi (2008) and come back in A1 with Teramo, achieving an historical third place in the first Italian Championship and being nominated “Coach of the Year”.

Andrea Menozzi is since 1995 Youth Level Teams Director of Trenkwalder Reggio Emilia, where now he’s coaching Under 19 and Under 17 teams. In these years, he launched several A1 players like Angelo Gigli, Nicolò Melli, Riccardo Cervi and Ojars Silins, winning U21 Italian Championship in 2007 and Under 20 Italian Championshi in 2003. From 2004 to 2005 he was Director of College Italia project for the Italian Basketball Federation and head coach of Aeronautica Militare that won Under 21 Italian Championship. He coached also Military Italian National Team in 2004 and Sperimental National Team in 2005, and in 2005 he was assistant coach of Antonio Bocchino on Italian U18 National Team bench, winning the bronze medal at European Championship.

Marco Sanguettoli is the head coach of Under 17 and Under 15 Youth Teams of Virtus Unipol Bologna, where he work since 1992 after his first experiences in Youth Teams of Castiglione Bologna, Motomalaguti San Lazzaro and Fortitudo Bologna. From 1990 to 1992 he also coached in C division at Titano San Marino. He won threee youth level Italian Championship: one with Fortitudo Bologna (Allievi, in 1990), two with Virtus Bologna (Cadetti in 1999 and Under 19 in 2012). From 1998 to 2002 he was also assistant coach of Italian National Team Under 20.

Domenico Papa, born and raised in Caserta, moved his first steps in Youth Level Teams of Juve Caserta. He started his career as strenght & conditioning coach with Falchetti Caserta and Artus Maddaloni in minors league, passing with the pro thanks to Scafati, where the team won the second Italian championship. Then he worked with Eldo Napoli with the double experience of Italian A1 and Euroleague, coming back to Juve Caserta where he still works. He’s also, since the last year, strenght & conditioning coach for the U18 Italian National Team.

Omer Ugurata is the head coach of Under 16 Turkey National Team that won the European Championship in 2012. Born in 1979, he started his coaching career in Turkish third division, as assistant coach and youth level teams coach, with Beykoz, ITU Sports Club and then Darussafaka. Since 2008 he work for Turkish National Teams, coaching Under 20, Under 16 and Under 15 teams, being at the same time the scouting coach for the Senior National Team that won the silver medal at World Champioship in 2010 with Bogdan Tanjevic on the bench. As assistant coach of Under 16 National Team he won also two silver medals at European Championship, in 2004 and 2010.
