British Basketball League games to go ahead despite Coronavirus outbreak

On March 12, the British Basketball League (BBL) announced that all games scheduled for this weekend are due to go ahead as planned. Despite multiple sporting events and leagues being suspended for the foreseeable due to the global Coronavirus outbreak. Including the NBA, NHL, and EuroLeague.

The 2020 European Championships in football are rumoured to be pushed back also. With the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo expected to see a similar fate.

In a statement, the BBL says that they are following the current guidance of the Government and the national public health agencies. Should anything change they will announce as and when necessary.

5 BBL Championship games are still scheduled to take place. In Plymouth, Worcester, Leicester, Bristol, and Sheffield. Additionally, there is a BBL Trophy game scheduled in Newcastle.
