Olympiacos have strengthened their roster by signing Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini from Maccabi Electra.

This will Shermadini’s fifth club after making an impact with Union Olimpija and Bennet Cantu, but struggled to make an impact with the Israeli champions as he only averaged just over four points and two rebounds a game this season.

As the back-up center for Bennet Cantu in last season’s Euroleague, Shermadini averaged 10 points, five rebounds and just under a block in 16 games played as the Italian side made a surprise run to the Top 16.

Shermadini represented Georgia at Eurobasket 2011 in Lithuania also, where he averaged four points and four rebounds a game. He brings an aggressive, never-say-die attitude on both ends of the court to the current Euroleague champions and will be a welcome addition as the Reds prepare for the Top 16.
