NBA icon LeBron James will be adding children’s book author to his long list of accomplishments with his upcoming book titled, I PROMISE.

I PROMISE is based on the LeBron James Family Foundation I PROMISE program, which provides resources, incentives and academic and emotional support that students and families need to stay in schools.

I PROMISE is a lively and inspiring picture book that reminds us that tomorrow’s success starts with the promises we make to ourselves and our community today, according to HarperCollins Publishers.

The picture book features James’ upbeat, rhyming text and vibrant illustrations by New York Times bestselling artist Nina Mata.

About the book, James said, “Most importantly, we wanted to make sure these stories are ones that every single kid can see themselves in. I PROMISE is powerful in that way, and I can’t wait for people to read it.”

“Books have the ability to teach, inspire and bring people together,” said James. “That’s why these books, and the opportunity to get children and parents reading together, mean so much to me.”

I PROMISE is scheduled for publication on Aug. 11 and James’ second book, a novel for middle-schoolers, will be published in the summer of 2021 as part of a two-book deal with HarperCollins Publishers.
