The 2020 NBA All-Star Game will be different. The NBA announced today a new format which will include charity and tribute to the late Kobe Bryant.

Both All-Star teams will play for Chicago-based community organisations that will be selected by team captains Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James.

The first three quarters will each start with the score 0-0 and the teams will compete to win each quarter.

At the start of the fourth quarter, the game clock will be turned off and the teams will compete for a Final Target Score. The Final Target Score will be determined by taking the leading team’s total cumulative score through three quarters and adding 24 (Kobe Bryant’s number).

The first team to reach the Final Target Score will win the All-Star Game.

The community organisations selected by the winner of the first three quarters will receive $100,000 each.

The winning team will earn $200,000 for its designated organisation.
