The Leicester Riders have filled yet another roster spot in advance of the 2011/12 BBL season, as today they secured the signing of experienced guard, John Griffin.

Griffin joins the Riders with an impressive CV having played four competitive years at Bucknell University, followed by a year in the German PRO B league where he won the league MVP, Bosman player of the year, Guard of the year and 1st Team PRO B honours before moving to America where he spent a year in the same franchise as NBA legend, Larry Bird, learning the game’s intricacies as part of the video department.

Griffin is excited about the prospect of playing in the BBL and thanks to his previous basketball successes, is aiming high for his first season with the Riders as he speculates that the team ‘could win a championship’.

The 6’1 Philadelphia born guard has a versatile game, being able to play both point and shooting guard positions with ease and under the tutelage of former floor leader Rob Paternostro, good things can be expected from Griffin and this Leicester Riders team.
