After spending the last fifteen years of his career, but mainly his life, Derrick Sharp has decided to call it a day.

Sharp moved to Israel as soon as he graduated the University of South Carolina to play in a second division club. After three seasons he was scouted and signed by Maccabi Tel Aviv, to which he has tied his legacy to.

During his 15-year long presence in Maccabi TA Sharp has won 3 Euroleagues, 13 Israel championships and 11 Israeli Cups.

Initially his plan was to play for another season, but given that Maccabi will be playing in a total of four competitions next season and with the Adriatic League being so demanding, the team’s coach David Blatt decided that he could not afford to allocate a squad spot for a veteran who would rarely see playing time.

Sharp, who has also played in two Eurobaskets representing Israel, will continue serving Maccabi TA as the second assistant coach of David Blatt.

To this day, his Maccabi TA days highlight remains this threepointer, against Zalgiris.
