Former Russia national team coach David Blatt has been linked with a possible role as an assistant coach at the Atlanta Hawks, reports say.

Blatt, who guided Russia to a bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics said in his final press conference in England’s capital that he wasn’t thinking about any coaching jobs for now but would consider his options.

The news surfaced via Russian website Sport Express, and translated by popular NBA site HoopsHype to read:

The head coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv and Russian National Basketball Team David Blatt may become the assistant coach of the Atlanta Hawks. Larry Drew has come to Israel today to watch and analyze Blatts work with Israels champions.”

Widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best head coach in Europe at this time, a move to the NBA would be a good challenge for Blatt who has carved out a lucrative career in Europe, both with club and country and has stated that he enjoys living in Israel and isn’t jumping at any job for now, especially the NBA.
