Olympiacos’ international Greek center, Ioannis Bourousis, has announced his withdrawal from Greece NT after his team’s defeat against Panathinaikos earlier in the night.

Bourousis’ move comes as another display of Olympiacos’ growing unease with the mistreatment they are getting from the referees in their domestic competitions, as the club claims.

Bourousis stated: “I am no longer available to play for Greece NT. I have done everything for this team, even played with a broken hand. In exchange all I get by the basketball organisation here is disrespect, both as a human being and as a player. Under these circumstances I quit Greece NT. It’s not a warning, it’s a decision”.

For the record Panathinaikos won the game 78-66 and is now leading 2-0 in the Best of 5 Greek A1 finals series. Olympiacos cites the 31 free throws Panathinaikos got awarded (while Olympiacos got just 9) as one of the reasons the game was lost.

Bourousis’ move comes as another blow to Greece NT bid for a medal in Eurobasket 2011 as more first line players such as Diamantidis, Papaloukas and Tsartsaris have also retired from the team.
