Despite public remarks that the New York Knicks didn’t want to meet Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in an attempt to sign the two stars, the reality was different and the news of KD and Irving joining the Brooklyn Nets hit hard on the Knicks’ management.

A source within the Knicks organization told Frank Isola of The Athletic that the team’s management was “stunned and depressed” after getting the news about Durant and Irving choosing the Nets:

“While the Knicks have spun this notion that they didn’t want meetings with either player — as well as Kawhi Leonard — a team source insists that management was “stunned and depressed” when they learned that Irving and Durant picked the other team in town.”

It seems that the management is also the reason why star players are not attracted to the Knicks. Recently, Enes Kanter stated that it is the ownership that turns the players away.
