The NBA is taking measures to prevent tampering and salary cap circumvention. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the NBA proposed maximum fine increases for both violations.

A team tampering with player/team personnel would risk a fine of up to $10M which is a 100 percent increase from current max fine of $5M.

Meanwhile, unauthorised agreements could result in a maximum fine of $6M for a team and $250K for a player.

Another proposed rule is increased enforcement of existing rule prohibiting player-to-player tampering. Team governor would be required to certify that there are no unauthorized benefits were offered/provided.

Additionally, five teams would be picked randomly each year for investigatory audits.

The NBA Board of Governors will on September 20 on the proposed rule changes.
