Linas Kleiza, and other Lithuanian stars could miss the Turkey World Championship due to insurance reasons as the Lithuaniabasketball.com portal reports. Lithuanian Basketball Federation is desperately seeking for funds to pay the necessary insurances required for everyone to play, but it is yet unknown if they will manage to do it in time.

Without many of its past stars like  Sarunas Jasikevicius, Ramunas Siskauskas and even Arvydas Macijauskas, Lithuania was looking onto Linas Kleiza (Euroleague’s top scorer) to be its offensive cornerstone, but everything is uncertain for now, as Olympiacos is not willing to jeopardise their star player.

The reasons behind the lack of funds seems to be the decision of a major sponsor of the Lithuanian NT to stop their help and now the LBF is looking for some support either from Government sources or new sponsors.

The amount in question is about 90 thousand euros and unless LBF finds that money some key players might miss the team’s first gathering on July 13th and possible even the World Championship itself.

Lithuaniabasketball also reports that Darjus Lavrinovic and Renaldas Seibutis could also miss the World Championship for the same reason.
