Thodoris Papaloukas, the captain of the Greek National team announced that he will not be participating in the Eurobasket 2009 in Poland due to not fully recovering from the injury he suffered on his foot.
The 32-year old Papaloukas has been playing for the NT since 2000 and has 125 appearances with the white-blue jersey averaging 7.4 points. This will be the first tournament he misses.
Things could get even worse for the Greek NT since the other star-guard of the squad, Dimitris Diamantidis has yet to announce his decision on paricipation as he also suffered to injuries during the season and was recently operated.
