Five players disqualified from Latvian national team

Latvian Basketball FederationThe board of Latvian Basketball Federation (LBS) gathered today in order to evaluate the performance of the national team. Despite the fact that, what was thought to be the best Latvian squad in history, failed to progress to the second, head coach Kestutis Kemzura was offered a contract extension. Lithuanian coach must decide about his future till October 15th.

Kaspras Berzins was dropped from Latvian squad in summer by Kestutis Kemzura  as a punishment for his unprofessional behaviour. As a result of that the relationships between the team and a head coach went down. There were other cases when players were making troubles but they did not reach the media.

However those cases were not forgotten. LBS decide to disqualify Kristaps Valters for 3 years and Armands Skele for 2 years from the national team.

Kaspars Berzins, Andris Biedrins and Kaspars Kambala were disqualified for 1 year. Though this sanction will only come into effect if these players misbehave again.
