French point guard Leo Westermann will be leaving Zalgiris after his second spell with Kaunas side. According to Donatas Urbonas, an undisclosed team will pay a buy-out to Zalgiris to get Westermann.
Meanwhile, Zalgiris is on the search for another point guard to fill in Westermann’s spot on the roster.
Last season Westermann returned to Kaunas after a difficult year with CSKA Moscow. Despite having a slow start, he managed to recover and became an important part of the team towards the end of the season.
The soon-to-be 27-year-old points guard averaged 6.4 points and 2.8 assists for Zalgiris in EuroLeague.
UPDATE – Fenerbahce are pursuing Westermann, according to Urbonas.
