Frank HolmesFrank Holmes has become the man in the middle and Vince Macaulay's seventh new addition to his Milton Keynes Lions roster ahead of the 2009/10 season.

The 6'9"American centre takes up his first professional position after a successful career at the University of Alabama Birmingham in the NCAA Division 1. At UAB Holmes played alongside NBA bound team mates, Walter Sharpe at the Detroit Pistons and Robert Vaden drafted this summer to Oklahoma City.

At 225Ibs and 6'9" Holmes is a force in the paint, he averaged 6points and 6 rebounds for his career at Alabama as the Blazers went to two NCAA tournaments and an NIT in his time there.

Lions' Head Coach Vince Macaulay commented, "we wanted to get more athletic and deeper this season, Frank will give us extra power inside whilst being very agile in and around the basket, he has played at a high level and with great players this is his time to shine."

2006-07 was a good year for Holmes as he led the team in field goal percentage at 65% and averaged 10 points a game over the last eight games as they headed to the NIT and finished well in the Conference. His 5 blocks were the first in UAB history since 2002 whilst his 22 points and 11 rebounds were his 7th double doubles of the year.

Holmes joins Robert Youngblood, Mike New, Yorick Williams, and Dru Spinks on this year's team alongside new faces, Irmantas Griksas, Craig Pringle, Maximillion Simon and EJ Harrison.

The Lion's first BBL home game of the season will be on Friday the 25th of September when they face the Worcester Wolves, tickets are available online and season tickets are still available for purchase.
