Ironi AshkelonMoran Roth is a player who made it to the top Israeli League in the  2004/05 season after spending 3 years in second division and has since then become an important player in the league and a regular "visitor" of the Israeli Final Four.

After leading Rishon Lezion to the Final Four in 2005/06 he did it again with Hapoel Holon in 2007/08, a season which ended amazingly for the club who won the Championship. Last year he did it for the third time leading Hapoel Jerusalem to the Israeli basketball's main event. Now he will try to lead Ashkelon to the same place. Roth will do it together with his former Holon teammate, Chris Watson, who also signed with Ashkelon this weekend.

Last season, Roth averaged 10.7 ppg, 3.9 apg and had 42% from 3-pt range with Jerusalem. In the end of the season he saw Yuval Naimi taking his place in the starting five, a fact that was shown his numbers which decreased in the playoffs and especially in the Final Four where he scored only 2.5 ppg with 1-9 from 3-pts range.

Roth had a contract for one more season in Jerusalem but decided to leave and not to fight for the starting five position again.
