Lietuvos RytasLithuanian Basketball League finals began with a game in Kaunas between Zalgiris and Lietuvos Rytas. The game promised to be a tight one as Rytas had only four point advantage at the half time. However the third period decided the game winner as Eurocup champions stormed 27-10 reaching a safe 21-point lead.

Zalgiris managed to recover after the shock in the final quarter. Defending LKL champions were closing the gap with 14-0 run. But the visitors were not going to let the game slip out of their hands. Rytas held on their advantage and won the first game 94-84.

Chuck Eidson, who is strongly linked with Maccabi Tel Aviv and several other top European clubs, had yet another impressive performance with 30 points. Two weeks ago American small forward had 41 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds in Baltic Basketball League final against Zalgiris.

Lietuvos Rytas leads 1-0 in a best-of-seven series. They managed to beat their arch rivals in all the finals so far this season. The win against Zalgiris in their home court will give psychological advantage before the second meeting in Vilnius on Saturday.
